She sensed what Michael was about to do, and unfortunately, her heart knew it too.

‚‚Don't do it, you can't, please. Don't ruin the beautiful thing you already have with me!" Her own voice suddenly seemed so heavy. Her heart began to beat painfully, so she lowered her gaze and fixed it on the white shirt Michael was wearing, which had... wait. Anna's breath caught in her throat for a moment.

‚‚You still wear it?" she said hoarsely, glancing at the man in amazement. On his face was a smile she had once loved so much.

‚‚I do, although I had to have it altered so I could continue to wear it." Anna felt her lips stretch into a faint smile, but it looked more like a grimace.

‚‚And you told me you wouldn't wear that clown outfit. Back when I gave it to you for your birthday, the one I was still able to attend."

Memories of that unpleasant event flashed through Anna's mind, accompanied by unpleasant feelings. Back then, Michael had treated her like a complete jerk. You could say he laughed at her gift, and she was convinced that he would be pleased with it since she had sewn it herself.

Her thoughts were interrupted by a gentle, warm touch on her cheek.

‚‚I was a total jerk, I'm sorry." Something flashed across the man's face that made it obvious he was thinking the same thing she was, and his words only confirmed it.

‚‚I cared more about what my friends thought of me and how they saw me than what I wanted."

He paused for a moment, and there were so many emotions flashing in his eyes that Anna's head spun slightly. She didn't know what to say to him, or rather, she knew but didn't know how to put it into words. She felt that it would only trigger an avalanche that would sweep them both away.

‚‚Yesterday, I thought you were going to dump me, but you didn't." He looked at her as if she were an open book, and his face reflected something that Anna couldn't quite describe.

‚‚I can still do it," she said with a bitter smile on her lips.

‚‚But to tell you the truth, I don't have the strength to do it today," she continued after a quiet exhalation.

‚‚Ouch, I'll take that as a yes," he said with a touch of humor and a twinkle in his eyes.

‚‚I would love for you to be..."

Anna made herself a coffee immediately after Michael left to answer the phone that had interrupted them. When the man was about to apologize again, Anna didn't need to be a fortune teller to understand that Michael had a guilty conscience, and judging by the way he looked at her, it wasn't exactly small.

As she pondered, she sipped the delicious drink that always helped her think and work, but today it seemed that the coffee wasn't having the desired effect, as her head was currently a jumble of thoughts.

‚‚As far as I know, you can't eat coffee," an angry voice snapped her out of her thoughts, or at least that's how it sounded to Anna.

‚‚I'm not very hungry," she shook her head and looked at Michael, whose face reflected his anger.

Anna had been expecting him to say something, but nothing came. He remained silent and entered the shop with a gait that could easily be mistaken for anger.

What could have happened so suddenly?
