My name is Marušánek and I was caught by a cat - I was given the name Maruška (3.)
Did I tell you that I got a name? No?
Well, it wasn't that simple, because no one knows whether I'm a boy or a girl. With little ducklings like me, you can't tell. You only find out later.
When our feathers start to change color and we're almost grown up. Maybe some people can tell earlier, but Hanka and Franta can't.
They came up with different names for me and couldn't agree on what to call me.
In the end, they started calling me Maruška. I quite like the name, although I don't know what it will be like if it turns out I'm a boy. That would be quite a joke.
Can you imagine? Maruška the duck!
Hanka's daughter arrived in the morning. Her name is Lenka. She stared at me with wide eyes, shook her head, and kept repeating "She's so tiny." and "She's beautiful." and "What are you going to do with her?"
I liked the first two sentences, but how could she ask such a stupid question about what they were going to do with me? I don't understand.
Can't she see the beautiful enclosure? Doesn't she know I already have a name? Anyone would know that. Of course I'm going to live here with you. That's obvious!
However, she appeased me by stroking me nicely, and she was nice to be around.
Lenka suggested that I could be called Kvída. She said that if I happened to be a boy, they could call me Kvído, and also because I squeak all the time. But I don't really like that name. We'll see.
Maybe she'll change her mind, or maybe it will turn out that I am a girl and everything will be fine.
