When we look at various statistics across the internet on which nation in the world is the happiest, we find that Denmark always comes out on top, along with the other Nordic countries. However, it is also interesting to note that there are high rates of mental illness and suicide. The gloomy weather and long dark days can contribute to this.  Maybe that's also why they have created a lifestyle called HYGGE. Maybe that's why their numbers are gradually improving. Don't you know what that is?

Engage your imagination and picture a blizzard like you may not even remember, and you're sitting outside your window. Are you cold? You're holding a hot chocolate cup with a whipped cream dollop. You're wearing thick socks on your feet, and the rest of your body is wrapped in a blanket, looking into the fire in the fireplace, listening to the crackle of wood. You stack a bunch of lights all around you, and you feel warm inside. More importantly, someone is sitting next to you who you want to share all this with, someone you love. Do you enjoy that feeling? That's HYGGE.

Every country has a different pronunciation of this word and they reinterpret their Hygge a little differently in the details, but the basic essence is the same. Warmth, comfort, safety, coziness, and most importantly - enjoying every moment, appreciating every little thing. Hygge also has its own style of interior furnishings (blankets and shawls, cushions, wooden furniture, yellow lighting,...), and it has its own specific kitchen with recipes and books, candles, and paintings. Try to turn off your mobile phones and computers, and live in the here and now. Eliminate stress, don't rush, don't chase a goal for a while.

It's a wholesome way of living that everyone who seeks warm happiness and peace within themselves should know and try.

Turn on the internet and let yourself be drawn into the tranquility of the Nordic countries and then tell me what it was really like.

Do you feel happier?
